CHATEAU GARREAU
The chateau Garreau’s history starts after the first world war in 1919. Chateau Garreau produces Armagnac, a brandy-type of liquor made with grape. The wineyeard of chateau Garreau, close to Labastide d’Armagnanc, a small middle age town, is of 82 hectares. Its owner is Carole Garreau, fourth generation of the Chateau Garreau’s owners but the production of the Armagnac brandy has started early in the 17 th century. The protocol for Armagnac production is distinct to the one of Cognac production: Armagnac brandy is the result of a single distillation whereas Cognac brandy is obtain after a double distillation.
Groupe Aqualande
Created in 1981, Aqualande has become, over the years, the European leader in aquaculture. Innovative and efficient, it has managed to combine economic success, development of new technologies and respect for the environment. Aqualande is the leader in trout farming in Europe.The trout farming center is 41 fish farms including 7 converted to organic farming since 2009; 15,000 tonnes of trout produced annually, including 12,000 tonnes of large trout > 2 kg. These farms are grouped within the Aquaculteurs Landais cooperative. This activity represents the heart of our business, supported by fifteen members of the cooperative.
CHATEAU DOISY-VEDRINES
Chateau Doisy-Védrines, some of whose buildings date from the 16th century, takes its name from the Knights of Védrines who were the historical owners until the middle of the 19th century, when the Castéja family acquired the castle. The descendants of this family are still in control of the estate. Located on the Barsac terroir, Chateau Doisy Vedrine, owned by Guillaume Lefebvre and his family, the 6 th generation of owner is located in the Sauterne area of Bordeaux region. The main production is made of sweet white wine Doisy-Védrines has a terroir with a beautiful Haut-Barsac hilltop, essentially composed of clay-limestone soils and shallow fine gravel, all resting on a limestone plateau with starfish. The 30 hectare vineyard, in one piece – whose vines are more than 35 years old – exploits Sauvignon, Sémillon and Muscadelle cultivars.
Château Couhins
In 1968, the Couhins vineyard was almost abandoned. During the years that follow, INRAE, the actual owner of the Chateau Couhins, will endeavor to restructure the vineyard on the basis of a new plot definition and then proceed with the construction of a wine cellar. Today, Chateau Couhins covers an area of twenty-five hectares and implements a production method inspired by traditions and recent wine researches. Marketed for 25 years within the vast INRAE network, Chateau Couhins wines have been sold since 2007 through merchants in Place de Bordeaux, proof of a strong desire to rebuild the reputation of Chateau Couhins.
